My theme this year reflects the image of the hummingbird – “Grace in Motion, Power In Flight,” let’s all be like lovely hummingbirds – beautiful to look at and a powerful force when we join together!
A hummingbird weighs less than a nickel, yet it will fearlessly chase off a hawk ten times its size if it steps into its territory. Never underestimate a small, determined bird—and definitely never underestimate a room full of motivated women with a community cause and a clipboard!
I hope everyone had an opportunity to participate in at least one of the many opportunities the club offered to stay connected this Summer: Friendraisers lunches, Book Club, Oceanside Harbor Walk and Happy Hour, New Village Arts Theater night, Rancho Buena Vista Adobe tour, Boys & Girls Back to School event, National Night Out and of course our fabulous Summer Luau and Silent Auction where $4,500 was raised for our projects and scholarships! All of these events were top choices in our member survey of activities – continue to submit your ideas for service projects and social events. I am always available to hear your thoughts and ideas – this is your club!
Please consider being part of our leadership team! We have two vacancies on the Board – we need a Membership Chairman and a Programs Chairman – two vital positions that are so important to the life and functioning of our club. Currently, Donna DiMambro and I are shouldering both of these positions plus being President and Vice President. If you volunteer, you will find that you are part of a great team, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel, programs are already planned for the year – check out the job descriptions in your Yearbook to see if you would be a good fit for our Membership or Programs Chairman. We can also have co-Chairman so if you and another member want to take on a chairmanship together that is fine too. This club is on fire – we need to keep our momentum going – please consider joining the Leadership team. Contact me or Donna DiMambro if you are interested in learning more about these positions.
Are you a night person? WCV @ Night will have its first meeting at the Vista Elks on September 23rd at 6pm. We will have a private room and members can order food and drinks from the restaurant and bar. We will be discussing plans for the upcoming year – bring your ideas!
Thank you to everyone who has been working behind the scenes and on the frontline to make our club the best it can be! Let’s keep the momentum going in September! See you all soon!
