In 2024, WCV donated $13,000 to the following groups. It was our pleasure to donate to the organizations that help improve lives here in our North County and San Diego County communities!
Alta Vista Botanical Gardens harmonizes people, nature, and art across a stunning 14-acre expanse nestled atop a hill within Brengle Terrace Park in Vista. Open daily to the public, this year’s contribution from The Woman’s Club of Vista will enhance pathways to ensure accessibility, and also subsidize field trip costs for Vista District students. Angel Faces provides healing retreats and ongoing support for adolescent girls and young women who have endured and been left scarred by severe trauma. This donation will provide supplies for “Let It Scroll” project, where the women will create scrolls of forgiveness on canvas. angelfaces.com
Bella Mente Montessori Academy is a free public charter school which serves grades TK-8. The donation from The Woman’s Club of Vista will be used to provide a theater program to our students. Volunteers are always welcome! bellamentecharter.org
Escondido Adventist Academy (EAA) is a K-12 Christian school that has been educating the head, the hand and the heart of the community since 1903. This year’s donation will again be used to develop our art program that empowers our students to not only invent their own creations but also to problem solve and critically think, and promote confidence which provides overall mental wellbeing for our young people today. Gently Hugged’s mission is to provide needy newborns with clothing for the first year of life. Our volunteers collect and prepare bags of donated clothing, health and safety information and a new children’s book in each bag. We donate 60 to 70 bags a month and this year‘s donation from The Woman’s Club of Vista will help to purchase new board books. Volunteering: gentlyhugged.org
Meals with Love Our Mission is to provide affordable nutritional meals prepared to satisfy medical dietary needs to those who cannot manage on their own. Recipients include the homebound, ill, disabled, and post-surgery or post-hospitalized convalescent persons with special nutritional requirements. Our program enables them to remain independent and enjoy a dignified quality of life. mealswithlove.org
Operation HOPE--North County Our mission is to serve families with children and single women experiencing homelessness while they rebuild their lives and regain independence. Funds will be used to support programming that takes place each day in support of our guests. We can always use volunteers and evening meals! operationhopeshelter.org
The San Diego Center for the Blind in Vista provides vision rehabilitation training and counseling for adults who are losing or who have lost vision. The funds from The Woman’s Club of Vista will be used to provide Braille lesson books for those who cannot afford them, white canes for those who cannot afford them, and funds to provide groceries for the cooking without looking class. Solutions for Change Since 1999, Solutions for Change has been helping families overcome homelessness and transform their lives Solutions Academy graduates achieve permanent housing, full-time employment, and thousands in savings. The donation from The Woman’s Club of Vista will be support new families as they enter Solutions Academy in 2024. Solutions welcomes volunteers in many capacities. solutionsforchange.org
Tierra Caliente Academy of Arts promotes the cultural arts through dance, music and theater, fostering youth leaders and artists through artistic discipline and performing arts. The Academy provides all the costumes and accessories for its 140+ members; this donation from The Woman’s Club of Vista will be allocated towards those expenses. Vista Community Clinic sincerely thanks the women of the Woman’s Club of Vista for their continued support and generosity. This amazing gift will provide “newborn safety care kits” with items especially designed for little, delicate bodies. Essential items such as fingernail clippers, nasal syringes, etc. will be neatly packaged and given to first time parents at the hospital before discharge. vcc.org
The Autism Society San Diego is the “Voice and resource for the autism community in San Diego County.” The Autism Society San Diego connects people to the resources they need through education, advocacy, support, information and referral, and community programming. We are truly honored to receive support from The Woman’s Club of Vista. The Shine Project Foundation’s mission is to bridge the gap between special needs families and their communities by partnering with local businesses and organizations to provide free enrichment and inclusive events. This donation will help implement these free events by covering costs of supplies, materials, equipment, services, and permits. Blissful Seeds: Planting the seeds of Blissful Lives for adults with autism and other developmental disabilities through employment and entrepreneurship. In our brick and mortar store located in Poway, we showcase handmade crafts made with love and pride by artists with different abilities. We have 7 artisans contracted with Blissful Seeds, 28 artists who have their creations on consignment, and 4 interns who work the sales. This donation will help pay the rent for the storefront. Moonlight Youth Theatre is a program of the Moonlight Cultural Foundation and is dedicated to providing high-quality, professional theatrical training for young people ages 7 to 18.
