In honor of the upcoming holiday season and Veteran’s Day the Book Club has chosen to read Away For The Holidays recommended by member Kati Mendoza. According to their website, “The Veterans Writing Group (VWG) of San Diego County is a community dedicated to supporting veteran and active-duty military writers. Their mission is to provide a safe, encouraging space where veterans can express themselves through writing, share their experiences, and connect with others.” Kati volunteers with VWG and wanted to introduce our Book Club members to this organization by recommending Away For The Holidays and inviting Garry Garretson, President of the San Diego VWG writing group to speak with us.
