On May 28th, 17 members attended the WCV@Night meeting at Shadowridge Golf Course.  We hosted George Hernandez who is a crime prevention specialist with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.  He spoke about numerous programs to reduce home and commercial burglaries.  He also spoke about the Sheriff’s program to improve outcomes of police interactions with people with neurodiverse disabilities.  This program is called “Blue Envelope” and is a county wide initiative.  After George’s presentation, members brainstormed ideas for the upcoming year.  We also worked to make teacher appreciation bags filled with gift cards, bath bombs and affirmation notes.  These will be distributed to Special Education instructors in Vista Unified School District.
