WCV Book Lovers savored Mexican cuisine and enjoyed stimulating conversation about this month’s book, The Edible Woman, by Canadian author Margaret Atwood. We discussed how the author used food and consumption as metaphors for objectification and societal pressure on women. A few of our members, who were in their 20’s in the 1960s, could identify with the limitations facing women of that era. Little did they know that they were on the brink of a Feminist Movement that would sweep the country! We all agreed that The Edible Woman, selected by member Cindi Toszak, was an interesting book that lead to some compelling discussion. Join us next month to discuss June’s selection, In The Unlikely Event, by popular author, Judy Blume. The Book Club will continue to meet over summer at our usual time, 6:00 PM at the Rancho Grande El Toro restaurant in Vista, the third Wednesday of the month. Guests are welcome!
