January’s general meeting was action-packed! During our meeting, Board members announced two new regular monthly events: WCV Works, a craft group at Cindi’s on the second Saturday, and a walking group on the fourth Saturday. Judy introduced the new newsletter name, The Hummingbird’s View, and conducted a vote to create the Nominating Committee. Jess discussed Donation Day procedures, Liz discussed District news and upcoming events, Sandi announced a new fundraising program, and Nancy presented the Treasurer’s report. Donna performed the initiation ceremony for 5 new members.
Members loved hearing about Blissful Seeds, an organization that provides career paths for neurodiverse individuals, and many purchased items from the table that Rita, Blissful Seeds founder set up. Products such as soaps and artwork were made by the members in the Blissful Seeds program. Wendy contributed a particularly meaningful comment about how important this work is. We weren’t done yet! Rachel Beld, CEO of the Vista Chamber of Commerce, explained all of the ways that WCV members can get involved in the Chamber activities and benefits. In addition to The Strawberry Festival and The Christmas Parade, there are monthly mixers, coffees, lunches, and committee meetings to attend. The quarterly nonprofit council is one we’ll want to participate in. Here is the Chamber site: https://www.vistachamber.org/
The apple pie and the gluten-free chocolates were divine. And the lucky table continued its winning streak for raffle prizes. I’m going to sit there next month.
