Sharing the benefits of joining the Woman’s Club of Vista
When I joined the Woman’s Club of Vista just over a year ago, I was looking for an organization that actually made a difference in people’s lives. I did not want an organization that spent all its time planning tea parties and big events. I wanted “hands on” involvement. I found that organization with the Woman’s Club of Vista.
We have fun, with trips to the fair, trips to the theater and visits to local restaurants with our Friendraisers group that I never would have known about without the group.
BUT I’ve also participated in events that really make a difference in the day to day lives of those living in North County San Diego. I’ve worked at the SD Food Bank. I’ve helped the kids at the Boys and Girls Club make greeting cards and select presents for Mother’s Day. I’ve stuffed backpacks with back to school supplies. The WCV has donated money, given grants and scholarships to smaller organizations that provide shoes for teenagers who have no shoes to wear to school. We have donated to a Girl Scout troop who wanted to provide backpacks and food for their classmates in need. For years we have donated baby clothes to newborn babies through Gently Hugged. We support Canine Companions in their endeavor to provide special needs children and adults with assistance dogs. Our members volunteer to assist abused women and we support the Foundation for Women Warriors and the Vista Sheriff’s Departments’ Night Out. We also hold a yearly Autism Walk For Awareness and Acceptance. If another non-profit organization needs extra volunteers or a bit of emergency cash, we are the organization they call.
The world is changing rapidly and every day there are more people in need of food, clothing and of a helping hand. I am very proud to be a member of the Woman’s Club of Vista where we have the ability to pivot quickly and provide help when it is needed.
