Traditions. I was raised in a musical family. Each of us sang and played an instrument. The holidays were full of practicing and concerts. Such amazing memories. The joy around music is easy to imagine. The sounds, the dresses, the evenings out in the snow. Even though I don’t play the flute as much as I used too, this Christmas I am singing in a small church in Escondido. If you would like more information, please email me and I would love to invite you.

Back to traditions. What are yours? Is it giving of your time? Donating to your favorite charity? Sending in your donation to Heifer for a family to have a cow? The Club is such an amazing way to reach out and serve your community. What would you like us to do? What project would you like us to step into? Email us and tell us so we can make it part of our new year. We are here to hear your ideas and to make them happen.

On another note: The WCV@Night needs to find a place to meet. We have an option to present to the club. The board has asked that we vote. For two years we have been meeting in restaurants. They are wonderful for food, but it is very difficult to run a meeting or have a speaker or a project when there is one table and a lots of noise. We have looked at many options. Here is the newest suggestion and we have several reasons we would like you to consider it:

We would like to sign a 6 month commitment with Shadowridge Golf Club to meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 6 pm. Everyone who attends must pay $20 for a meal and the program. We would be committed to $200 each month to Shadowridge. If this passes, we will begin meeting there in January of 2025. Our reasons for this suggestion are as follows.

  1. It is centrally located
  2. It has food and drink available
  3. It is the same location for both day and night club
  4. It is easy to have any kind of meeting such as a project, speaker or game because we have our own room
  5. It will be consistent for us for 6 months as we grow
  6. Payment will be prepaid to the club by Paypal or check and we will not be able to refund if you don’t come that night. We need to keep to our budget.

Here is the tentative schedule so that you know what we are doing:

January: Fun: Paint Watercolors with Kene from the Escondido Art Association.

February: Community: Creating Swift bracelets for the Autism Walk.

March: Speaker: ENT/Fireman speaker on safety in the home.

April: Fun: Birthday Party – Time to celebrate!

May: Community:Creating Bath Bombs for Special Needs Teachers for appreciation week.

June: Speaker: Community Leader: What is happening in our local area.

July: Summer Outing to either the flower or lavender fields.

The board is asking that 10 members commit to attend for 6 months. When we look at the night time attendance it goes from 15 to 6 back to 12 during the year. Would you commit 20 dollars a month for 6 months to make this work?

We need your vote. Every club member has a vote.

Email womansclubofvistagfwc@gmail.com and say YES it is a good idea or NO it is not a good idea and the board will know by January 1st to sign or not sign the contract.
