November is our month to celebrate the men and women of the military. Being so near the military bases here in California it is hard not to have a special comraderie of sorts with especially the Marines and the Navy, but so may of us have transported ourselves from the Midwest and other parts of the nations that the Army and the Air Force have special spots in our hearts as well as the Coast Guard and these days the Space Force!

Our program this month hits on one tragic result of what happens when someone has gone to war and returned with PTSD. One amazing result that can be helped by a companion dog.

Unfortunately, other things cannot be helped by giving a person a companion dog or anything else. But we can remember this person as the years go by. And one way to do this is through Wreaths Across America, an organization that will place a wreath on the grave site of the fallen, to honor those who have served.

On December 14, this year, over two million volunteers, including women from the Woman’s Club of Vista and the Palomar District of Women’s Club to which we belong, will join to gather to Remember, Honor, and Teach at more than 4,600 participating locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad.

You may sponsor a veteran’s wreath in honor of, or in memory of a loved one who served in our armed forces. Or, sponsor and allow us to designate a recipient among the millions of heroes who rest in honored glory.

Wreaths cost only $17. If interested, please contact Liz Franciscus our 1st VP/Dean below or purchase online here.

The Deadline to purchase the wreaths is December 1st.

On a lighter note, please join us for our fun November program, who can resist a dog??
