My theme this year reflects the image of the hummingbird – “Grace in Motion, Power In Flight,” let’s all be like lovely hummingbirds – beautiful to look at and a powerful force when we join together!
Even though we are in the midst of the lazy days of summer, the Woman’s Club of Vista continues to be going strong. Behind the scenes we have been planning our Calendar of Events for the next term, finalizing the new Budget and reworking our Bylaws. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to volunteer for these vital activities that keep our club running smoothy. Our Day Meetings will reconvene September 10th.
The GFWC National Day of Service is September 27th. This year the focus is on awareness of domestic and sexual violence. All GFWC Clubs are asked to participate in a service project in their community that supports survivors of domestic violence. Las Valientes is such an organization. We chose Las Valientes because they are a small, local nonprofit that has been a presence in our community for several years. The Founder, Dr. Ana Serrano, tirelessly advocates for families who have suffered from domestic and sexual violence and are struggling to break the cycle. We are collecting gently used clothing and shoes to help them raise funds. Please bring your bagged items to any meeting in August or September along with a list of the contents.
