He was privileged to study under noted San Diego County water colorist\, Thelma Speed Houston. \nKene later spent a number of years in Hawaii\, where he continued to study\, paint and exhibit his works. His colorful landscapes invite the viewer into the painting for a visual escape. \nHis love of nature and the world around us is captured in his works that dazzle the eye with their intense color palette. “I strive for that emotional reaction connecting the viewer to my work\,” states the artist. \nKene’s watercolors are treasured in many private collections throughout the United States and Europe.
