SUMMARY:December 2024 Book Club
DESCRIPTION:The Vista Woman’s Book Club December 18\, 2024 Meeting is a Plain Brown Paper Book Exchange. At our December meeting\, we will do a book swap where participants wrap up one of their used favorite books in brown paper and exchange them with others: How it works:Participants wrap their books in plain brown paper and include a description on the outside that doesn’t give away the title or author.  Bring the wrapped book with you to the meeting and put it on the dining table. During dinner\, we will plug our book by reading our short description of why we loved the book and we can pass it around the table. (You can touch the package to see if it is a hard cover or a soft cover\, but no peeking). You can answer questions without spoilers of what is inside or the story itself. \nBe honest but objective with your description. Give just enough information to convince them to pick your book. At the end of the dinner\, each member will then choose a book.  If at the end not everyone has a book they are happy with\, shuffle around or exchange it. Everyone should leave happy with a great new book to read. \nWhy It’s FunBook exchanges are a great way to pass on books you no longer read and discover new ones.  Vista Book club members love books\, so this is a fun opportunity to gather with our friends who love books and exchange books that were meaningful to us.   \nHere are some tips for the book exchange:–Type of books:  Book can be fiction\, nonfiction\, memoirs\, cookbooks\, coffee table books\, children’s books\, and “everything else.” –Write a description:  You can write a short description on the outside of their book that won’t give away the title or author.

Many applicants report monthly incomes of less than $2000\, far below what is necessary to live in San Diego. SOPFC launched a gift card program to help cancer patients with food\, gas\, and purchases at big box stores like Target and Walmart to meet immediate needs.  The gift card program has been a resounding success\, providing 455 grants totaling $186\,125\, with an average grant of $400. \nVembra Holnagel is a founding board member of Shades of Pink Foundation California and a past president of the board. She was invited into the nonprofit by her daughter. Joining the organization gave Vembra a chance to help women in her community and spend time with her daughter. She also had a personal reason for working with SOPFCA. In 2012\, she lost a dear friend to breast cancer after a long and difficult battle. \nActivity: Our activity will be to hand-write letters to women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. A hand-written letter has the special power to heal. SUMMARY:September 2024 Evening Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Yoga with Raschel: \nThis month for WCV @ Night we are having YOGA. So many of us rush through life and are super involved in our communities. Our very own Raschel Kloos is going to come to our September 6 pm meeting and teach us yoga breathing and other gentle moves that will help us relax when we need to. Wear something comfortable. We won’t be on the floor but we may very well be standing or doing chair yoga. Come and relax with us.
